Selection Process for Indian Army SSC(Tech) Courses

The selection process for the Indian Army SSC(Tech) courses involves several stages.​ Here is a detailed breakdown of each step:

1. Shortlisting of Applications:

  • Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves the right to shortlist applications based on the cumulative percentage of marks obtained in graduation.​
  • The cutoff percentage will be applied to each engineering stream based on the number of applications received and vacancies available.​
  • Final semester/year studying candidates will be provisionally allowed to appear in SSB, subject to meeting the cutoff percentage.​

2. Centre Allotment:

  • After shortlisting, candidates will be informed about their selection centre via email.​
  • Candidates must log in to the website to select their SSB dates, available on a first-come, first-serve basis. ​ If not selected, dates will be allotted by the Selection Centres.

3. SSB Interview:

  • The SSB interview is a comprehensive assessment that includes various tests and tasks designed to evaluate the candidate’s suitability for a career in the Indian Army. The interview is conducted in two stages over five days.​

    Stage-1:

    • Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test: This test assesses the candidate’s verbal and non-verbal reasoning abilities.
    • Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT): Candidates are shown a picture and asked to write a story based on their perception of the picture. This test evaluates the candidate’s imagination, perception, and narrative skills.

    Stage-2:
